I made a really big mistake last week…
I was on the phone with my older brother who lives in San Diego and I felt the need to complain to him about something that was pertaining to basketball, telling him I should be getting paid because other guys who aren’t as good as me are getting paid. He stopped me right in my tracks.

“Aaron, you’re doing the worst thing you could possibly do in this world.”
“What’s that?”
“You’re spending your time worried about someone else’s life.”
He was 100% right and I dropped the conversation immediately.
We live in a society where people are constantly judged for who they are and what they do. In this golden age of connectivity, it can feel like everyone is watching your every move. Sometimes we see others that may be doing better than you. Their house or their car may be better than yours or the lifestyle they live may be much more luxurious. However, at the end of the day the only thing you can change in your life is YOU.
Do you know who the biggest competitor in your life is? It’s you! No one else even matters as your competition. It’s all about you and what you can do to improve yourself. As many distractions as we have in this world, it’s easy to focus on what someone else has or what they’re doing instead of your own goals.
The next time you feel like your being distracted by focusing on someone else, keep this in mind. There is no set timetable on
how you live your life and how fast you accomplish your goals. You can get to wherever you want to be in life. Just know that it’ll take time, focus and energy. The same energy you dedicate on someone else’s life, is the same energy that can be used to fuel your passions and what is important to you in life. Remember, when it comes to your life it’s important to have tunnel vision. Have that goal in mind that you want to accomplish, figure out the ways you can get it done, and then keep nothing in your way as you do everything in you power to reach your goal.
